Hiring Process
Thank you for your employment interest in the City of Anna. Here’s a look at our hiring process.
Step 1: Browse Employment Opportunities
All employment opportunities are posted on the city's website and will include the minimum qualifications that are required for each position. If your application does not clearly demonstrate meeting the minimum qualifications and necessary experience, your application will be dismissed.
Step 2: Submit Your Application
The City of Anna only accepts employment applications for positions posted on the career portal. All applications must be submitted through our online system; incomplete applications will not be considered. We don’t accept resumes in lieu of an employment application. Resumes can be submitted as an attachment in the online application process.
Quick Tip #1: Review and update your application for each job
If you have created a Career Portal profile and submitted an employment application prior, please ensure that you are updating your information and application with each submittal. Clearly list and highlight the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies that make you a strong fit for each job. Candidates whose background, experience, and education are most closely related to the position may be considered first.
Quick Tip #2: Take time to complete each required field
If you have missed a required field in the online application, there will be a red * indicating the field missed.
Quick Tip #3: Application Received
If your application was submitted and received by the Human Resources department, you will review an automatically generated email from CivicHR stating so. Check your inbox and junk mail.
Step 3: Wait (Yes, It Really Is the Hardest Part)
It can take 30-90 days to fill a job vacancy, depending on the type of position. The hiring department will review applications received and schedule interviews. Not all applicants will be interviewed. If you are not selected for an interview, your application will remain on file for the position. Once the position has been filled, you will receive an email stating so.
Step 4: Complete Pre-Employment Screenings, If a Job Is Offered
A verbal offer of employment will be extended followed by a formal offer of employment letter from the Human Resources department (check your email inbox!). All job offers are contingent upon successfully completing pre-employment screenings. These include a drug test, criminal background check, driving record check, and a physical examination, if applicable.
Step 5: Accept a Final Job Offer
If you’ve made it to this stage—congratulations and welcome to our City of Anna team! We’ll contact you about the next steps in your employment, including finalizing a start date.
