What is status of the FM 455 roadway reconstruction project?
The City of Anna, Collin County, and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) have been working for the past several years on plans to reconstruct and widen FM 455 (White Street) between US 75 and State Highway 5 (Powell Parkway). We have recently been advised by TxDOT that the project should start in February 2015. Construction is expected to last 18 months. TxDOT officials will provide the City Council an update in February.
Are there any plans to install a traffic signal at FM455 and Ferguson Parkway near the Anna Market Center?
FM 455 (White Street) is a state highway that is controlled and managed by the Texas Department of Transportation. TxDOT controls the posted speed limits and the installation of traffic signals on all state highways. Last fall, the City asked TxDOT to evaluate our request to install a traffic signal at the intersection of FM 455 and Ferguson Pkwy. TxDOT performed a study and contacted the City in April stating that they will be installing a traffic signal at that intersection.
During the evening rush hour, traffic is very congested on North bound 75 at the FM 455 exit. Are there any plans to improve the US 75/FM 455 interchange?
TxDOT is very aware of the problems at the US 75/FM 455 exit, and they are currently developing construction plans for a project that will involve the complete reconstruction of the US 75/FM 455 interchange. This project will relocate and reconstruct all of the entry and exit ramps, make improvement to the frontage roads, and widen the FM 455 bridge over US 75. Although we do not yet have date when construction will start, TxDOT has assured us that they are placing a priority on funding and scheduling this project. The reconstruction of this interchange along with the scheduled expansion of FM 455 will greatly enhance the safety and mobility of motorist exiting US 75 at FM 455.
