The Anna Economic Development Corporation (EDC) works in cooperation with the Community Development Corporation to coordinate efforts that expand the city's business tax base with a focus on creating primary jobs within the City of Anna. The corporations have provided incentives that resulted in much of the retail development that has occurred in Anna since 2008. The EDC was instrumental in recruiting Brookshires, CVS pharmacy, McDonalds and Wal-mart. The EDC and CDC jointly purchased an 85 acre tract of land at the northeast corner of hwy. 5 and the Outer Loop to develop a business park. The EDC purchased and remodeled the Old Post Office located in our downtown area which now serves as office space for several small businesses.
Purpose: Foster a vibrant, thriving economy through the promotion and development of new and expanding businesses.
- Effectively market our community brand
- Attract professional jobs
- Seek out family entertainment style businesses
- Promote downtown development
- Assist developers in filling available lease space
